The Coach's Playground

Feb 10, 2021

What will make your business tick? How do you make people resonate with your message without being pushy? How do you sell without looking at the part?

There are many reasons why people wouldn’t want to be in a gym. But when you create a community atmosphere that makes the whole experience enjoyable -- that’s unbeatable. The point is, you make them accountable but make it fun.

Riley Dudar is the owner of Evolution Hockey and the Director of Player Development.

What began in 2013 as a humble off-ice summer conditioning program for aspiring high-level hockey players has since grown into Manitoba’s first licensed Hockey Canada Skills program, working with players and coaches of all levels on and off the ice.

Riley prides himself on maintaining a strong passion and curiosity for human and athletic potential, constantly challenging himself (and the players he works with) to step outside their comfort zone and push personal boundaries of growth.

In this episode, Riley shares lessons in sports applied to his business and personal life. He underscores what walking the talk truly means -- making people get encouraged to be someone they see in you, after all, you are the best personification of what your business stands for. You should discover how Riley made his business grow despite flying under the radar -- getting inquiries one after another and maintaining a steady source of clients through the years. He shares his insights about a business owner’s natural progression in the business. Lessons in life and sports are what he integrates into his business -- what team effort can do for everyone in achieving one’s vision. He couldn’t stress enough on ‘not pricing things as the end game’ -- that you continue to aspire for more income with the thought in mind that this is not only you getting the benefits. It is more about sharing opportunities for other people of them getting jobs and serving more people to succeed in their own fitness and health journey. He doubles down on the need to find a vision and find ways to commit to realizing it. And as the digital space is already right in front of us, he only has one good point for everyone -- to find ways to get better at showing up as a leader online.

“Find a vision and then find something that you can commit to every day to try and get to that vision.” - Riley Dudar
